Quilt all done and dusted
My Big Idea

Part of my uni course I needed to produce a large piece of art a 'big idea'. This was my big idea a portrait quilt, a quilt that showed all the bits that had made me, me. Looking back on these pictures I'm really proud of what I produced I'm also amazed at how my life has changed in 3 years. Back then I was a single mum studying to be a teacher. I'm now married, new buba and wondering what is next.

I spent many hours working on this there is a whole variety of textile techniques using painting, dying, screen printing, applique.

Piecing it together

The back of the quilt is large piece of hand felting that I loosely stitched.

Food Processor Orange Cake

I love this cake because it is super easy, super moist, it has fruit in it so I can pretend it is good for me and best of all people love it!!!

this cake has been drizzled in syrup
2 navel oranges
185gr butter soft
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 tsp vanilla
3 eggs
2 1/4 cups SR flour

Step 0ne: preheat oven 170c, lightly grease and line spring form tin

Step Two: cut oranges into quarters removing the white pithy core but leaving the skin on place into food processor and pulse until roughly chopped.

Step Three: Add butter, sugar and vanilla pulse until combined.

Step Four: add eggs and: pulse till combined

Step Five: add flour pulse till combined be careful not to over mix. pour into tin and back for about 1 hour

If you want to finish the cake with orange syrup combine the juice of one orange with 1/2 cup sugar and spoon over warm cake.

About Me

My photo
A bit about me… I’m a wife, a mother of three kids, I’m a Christian, a teacher, I cook, I clean, I sew, I paint, I garden. I'm a contradiction of myself, I eat too much drink too but try to keep healthy, I get cross with my husband, I don’t always have enough patience with my kids. I get caught up on the stupid details of life and sometimes forget about the importance of the big picture. This blog is my blog, my space to share, to rant, a place to create I hope you like what I am doing and would love you to follow along.
