the simple things are often the best

School holiday joy

Sorry for no post last week school holidays...
I have always found it rather sad when you hear parents dreading school holidays and having their kids home all day with them, after all didn't we have kids because we like kids and want to spend time with them. Now I understand that school holidays can be a mixed bag, a chance to relax with your kids have pyjama days no rushing for school, no home work, no readers. But they can also be incredibly stressful if you work you need to find care for your kids, I am lucky with that one I'm a teacher so even if I was working this year I always have the holidays covered. But even still the kids can get bored, there isn't enough money to do all the 'things', you can't get done your stuff and the kids can just start to frustrate you.

However these  school holidays just gone I was determined to enjoy them, relax with my kids make some great memories and not stress about the house work. I had been really missing mr boy, my baby is six month old so life feel like it has started to settle into our new normal and I wanted to have lots of quality time with the kids. I didn't have a lot of spare cash to splash around but that's OK because I genuinely believe that money doesn't make great memories. When I think back to my childhood its not my parents spending lots of money on me that stands out but spending time with my parents and my sister.
So we started the holidays with my niece staying which gave my son a playmate his age and my sister a break. We went on walks, we played in the park, we meet up with friends, we cooked, I tried not to worry about the house work. I did have moments of thinking about my stuff, wanting to make my things with out sticky hands getting in the way or putting up more blogs but I had to admit I couldn't do it all and in the end spending time with the kids won out. So last Thursday with the house a mess I was feeling rather exhausted I decided to not stress the small stuff the floors could wait and I grabbed the blanket and headed out to the yard with both kids. And we just hang out...baby girl grabbed and pulled grass, mr boy pretended that he was a horse and I just enjoyed it. And while we were out there enjoying the sun shine and each other we discovered this snail which made me smile.

Now school is back it is time to get on top of the house work and work a bit more on the blog. I have a few projects up myself which I am excited to get done and share.

About Me

My photo
A bit about me… I’m a wife, a mother of three kids, I’m a Christian, a teacher, I cook, I clean, I sew, I paint, I garden. I'm a contradiction of myself, I eat too much drink too but try to keep healthy, I get cross with my husband, I don’t always have enough patience with my kids. I get caught up on the stupid details of life and sometimes forget about the importance of the big picture. This blog is my blog, my space to share, to rant, a place to create I hope you like what I am doing and would love you to follow along.
