A busy and productive week

Well what a busy and productive week, all the normal family life as well as some sewing done. Finished embroidering a singlet which will make a rather nice gift I think, as well I have done some experimenting with bib making.

Embroidery

I know that I have shown off a few embroidery efforts and I have already sprouted about how much I love Sublime Stitching http://www.sublimestitching.com/ few there patterns and the supplies. For this project I used glow in the dark thread for the owls eyes. The thread is great, it really work built it is more challenging to work with than regular floss so I wouldn't want to use it in large areas. The thing I love about these patterns is I don't have to think too much and can just relax and enjoy the sewing.

Bibs

For a while now I have wanted to have a go at making bibs. So this week I got around to give it a go. I am not completely sure what fabrics would make the best bibs, I'm rather fuss with my bibs. I want them simple yet looking nice. So I have three different bibs in different fabric combos and will now see which washes and wears the best before I go into full production of bibs for everyone.

Printed cotton and pin wale cord on the back, these worked so well together and the look really smart together.

Cotton linen blend with rain coat fabric on the back, by far the most challenging to work with fabrics wise.

Printed cotton and ploare fleece, wasn't to hard to work with but Im not sure how well it will wash and wear.

For all the bibs I have used a press stud as I think that make them easy to to get on and off, no hassle with botton holes and they wont all stick to things in the wash the way velcro does (I told you I am fussy about bibs) so watch this space to see how I go with my great bib experiment. Although sadly due to a mishap with my beloved sewing machince I may not be doing a heap of sewing in the next few weeks. So I well need to find other ways to use my creativity.
I am sure I will be overwhelemed and inspired with my trip tomorrow to the Finders Keepers markethttp://www.thefinderskeepers.com/

A bit about me… I’m a wife, a mother of three kids, I’m a Christian, a teacher, I cook, I clean, I sew, I paint, I garden. I'm a contradiction of myself, I eat too much drink too but try to keep healthy, I get cross with my husband, I don’t always have enough patience with my kids. I get caught up on the stupid details of life and sometimes forget about the importance of the big picture. This blog is my blog, my space to share, to rant, a place to create I hope you like what I am doing and would love you to follow along.
