Marvouluse Mince Meat: Handburgers (Hambugers)

My very literal son asked me the other day 'why are the called ham burgers if there is no ham in them?...handbugers make more sense cause you eat them with your hands.' I have to say i agree with him.

I love handburgers and I don't just mean the ones from the golden archers but a good proper handburger that needs two hands to hold it. I like to make my own meat patties I haven't found bought ones that are as good plus I worry about what they put into them.

Handburgers (Hamburger) Meat Patties
500gr mince beef
1 onion
2 slices of bread
2 teaspoon veggie stock powder
1 egg (I use egg replacer)
2 teaspoon dried mixed herbs

Step 1: Chop onion in food processor, add bread and pulse till crumbed.
Step 2: By hand mix the rest of the ingredients and shape into patties. Set aside in the fridge until they are ready to be cooked.

For me a burger isn't complete unless it has chips. so for the chips I cut a couple of washed potatoes length ways, i also peel a sweet potatoes and cut into similar sized chips. I toss the chips in a bit of rice bran oil and a sprinkling of veggie stock powder and bake for about 45min at 180 degrees.

To cook the meat patties I fry them in the pan for about 15min only with enough oil to cover the pan so they don't stick. I like to serve my burger with tomato, lettuces and cheese maybe a bit of beetroot if I'm going all out. How do you like your burger?

About Me

My photo
A bit about me… I’m a wife, a mother of three kids, I’m a Christian, a teacher, I cook, I clean, I sew, I paint, I garden. I'm a contradiction of myself, I eat too much drink too but try to keep healthy, I get cross with my husband, I don’t always have enough patience with my kids. I get caught up on the stupid details of life and sometimes forget about the importance of the big picture. This blog is my blog, my space to share, to rant, a place to create I hope you like what I am doing and would love you to follow along.
